Living is a Choice

On Living: The choices we make · Episode 1: Ezcaray

We are launching On Living: The choices we make, a new audiovisual series available on our Instagram and YouTube channels. The project begins with a clear intention: to explore the idea of home not as an asset, but as a conscious choice.

The first episode takes us to Ezcaray, a village in La Rioja where a home becomes the visible result of a particular way of understanding how to live.

On Living: The Choices We Make · Episode 1: Ezcaray

Throughout the series, each story unfolds through different moments that allow us to understand not only the space itself, but also the decisions—and trade-offs—that made it possible.

Because the true luxury of our time does not lie in what a house has, but in the choices that define it. Rather than describing every corner in detail, the aim is to understand the perspective of the person who conceived the space and the decision of the person who ultimately lives in it.

The protagonist of this first episode is an Alpine-inspired duplex in the heart of Ezcaray. The story begins with its surroundings: the River Oja flowing through the village, its arcaded streets, the unhurried rhythm of daily life and the constant presence of craftsmanship. A setting that does not act as a postcard backdrop, but as an active part of the experience of living there.

Interior designer María Acha, who led the transformation of the space, shares the vision behind the project:

“When I started designing this home, I knew I didn’t want it to feel like a conventional apartment. I wanted it to have the character of a mountain chalet, with a very warm and welcoming atmosphere, and for the experience of being here to feel truly special.”

Some decisions define the character of a home in a lasting way. In this case, one of the most significant was connecting the two floors—even at the cost of giving up part of the usable space.

“You might lose a few square meters, but what you gain in light and in the relationship between the spaces makes it entirely worthwhile,” Acha explains.

Exploring the home not as an asset, but as a conscious choice.

Material and Decision

Another moment in the series focuses on the details: materials, textures and spaces in use. The transformation is complete. As you cross the threshold, the bustle of the village fades away, giving way to a sequence of intimate rooms where the kitchen—conceived as a wooden cabin within the home itself—becomes the heart of the house. A space designed to prioritize warmth, calm and the authenticity of natural materials. An invitation to stay.

The final chapter raises a key question: who is this home meant for? Not in terms of square meters or numbers, but in terms of lifestyle.

“It’s a perfect home for one or two people who enjoy having guests while maintaining independence between floors. I can also see it working for a family, with the adults downstairs and the younger ones upstairs. It’s a very flexible home,” the interior designer explains.

On Living is more than just content. It marks the beginning of a private conversation—an invitation to stop looking and start reflecting.

If, while watching these pieces, you feel that the decisions behind this home resonate with your own priorities, perhaps it’s time to talk.
